Product Overview
Apron feeders are continuous conveying machines widely used in the mining, metallurgy, coal, chemical, building materials, foundry, and other industries. They are particularly suitable for handling solid materials that are hot, large in size, sharp-edged, or highly abrasive. They are mainly used to continuously and uniformly feed and transfer large, heavy, and abrasive bulk materials from storage bins or transfer hoppers to crushers, batching systems, or conveying equipment. Apron feeders are essential equipment for ore and raw material handling as well as continuous production processes. They are generally available in three types: heavy-duty, medium-duty, and light-duty apron feeders.
The light-duty apron feeder is designed for continuous feeding and is suitable for short-distance conveying of lump materials with a particle size of up to 160 mm. It is widely used in mining, coal washing, chemical, cement, building materials, and other industries to provide uniform and continuous feeding from storage bins to crushers, conveyors, and other equipment. It can be installed horizontally or on an incline. It is generally suitable for materials with a bulk density of less than 1,200 kg/m³, a maximum individual lump weight of less than 140 kg, and a material temperature below 350°C.
The medium-duty apron feeder is designed for intermittent feeding and is suitable for short-distance conveying of lump materials with a particle size of up to 400 mm. It is widely used in mines, mineral processing plants, chemical plants, cement plants, building materials facilities, and other applications to provide uniform intermittent feeding from storage bins to crushers, conveyors, and other equipment. It can be installed horizontally or on an incline. It is generally suitable for materials with a bulk density of less than 12,400 kg/m³, a maximum individual lump weight of less than 500 kg, and a material temperature below 400°C.
The heavy-duty apron feeder is auxiliary equipment used in material handling systems. It is commonly installed in the crushing and classification sections of mineral processing plants, as well as in cement and building materials plants, to continuously and uniformly feed material from storage bins to primary crushers. It can also be used for short-distance conveying of materials with large particle sizes and high specific gravity. The feeder can be installed horizontally or on an incline. To prevent material from directly impacting the feeder, the storage bin should not be allowed to empty completely during operation.
Apron feeders are available with either right-hand or left-hand drive configurations. When viewed in the direction of material flow, a feeder with the drive system located on the right side is designated as a right-hand drive, while one with the drive system located on the left side is designated as a left-hand drive.
Structure and Components
The apron feeder consists mainly of traction chains, load-bearing chains, sprockets, a frame, and a drive unit.
Product Features
1. The apron feeder uses long-pitch plate-type pin roller chains as its traction chains. All chain components are made of alloy steel and undergo carefully controlled heat treatment, providing excellent wear resistance, high tensile strength, and long service life.
2. The apron feeder uses stamped pans reinforced with transverse ribs, providing excellent rigidity and high load-bearing capacity. The curved overlapping design of the pan bottoms effectively prevents material leakage.
3. The apron feeder is equipped with a variable-speed drive motor, allowing the operating speed to be adjusted to achieve the desired conveying capacity.
4. The apron feeder offers flexible installation configurations and can be arranged horizontally, on an incline, or in various combinations of horizontal and inclined sections.
5. A single apron feeder can provide a conveying length of up to 60 m, handle materials at temperatures of up to 600°C, and achieve a lifting height of up to 30 m.
