Product Overview

The Z-type bucket elevator is one of the bucket elevator series designed and manufactured by Tongxin Vibration Machinery. It is named for its Z-shaped configuration, which is formed by the relative positions of the inlet and outlet. Multiple discharge points can be arranged at different positions as required. The elevator can handle granular and small-lump materials, as well as mixed materials with a fines content of less than 25%. It offers a lifting height of 2–40 m and a conveying capacity of 3–40 t/h. Buckets are available in carbon steel, stainless steel, and plastic. Z-type bucket elevators are widely used in the refractory, chemical, plastics, grain, food, recycling, hardware, and other industries.

The Z-type bucket elevator combines horizontal conveying and vertical lifting in a single conveying system. It is named for its Z-shaped configuration, which is determined by the positions of the inlet and outlet. A single Z-type bucket elevator can replace three conventional pieces of equipment used for horizontal conveying, vertical lifting, and subsequent horizontal conveying.
Other commonly used names include pivoting bucket elevator, guided-discharge bucket elevator, Z-type elevator, Z-type feeder, Z-type bucket conveyor, C-type elevator, C-type feeder, C-type bucket conveyor, S-type elevator, chain bucket elevator, and bucket conveyor.

The machine features a modular sectional casing, allowing the horizontal conveying length and lifting height to be configured according to application requirements. Its flexible layout and compact footprint help save plant space and reduce the required pit depth. The machine operates safely, reliably, and smoothly with low noise, while minimizing material spillage, leakage, and dust emissions. Its modular design also facilitates disassembly and maintenance, making it an efficient and practical solution for material conveying applications.

Working Principle

Material enters the buckets through the inlet and is carried upward by the conveying chains. After passing over the upper sprocket, the buckets rotate downward and discharge the material into the receiving chute.
For belt-driven bucket elevators, a rubber belt is generally used as the traction element and runs around the drive pulley and return pulleys located at the upper and lower sections of the elevator. Chain-driven Z-type bucket elevators are generally equipped with two parallel conveying chains, with a pair of drive sprockets at one end and a pair of return sprockets at the opposite end. The elevator is normally enclosed by a casing to minimize dust emissions during operation.

The Z-type pivoting bucket elevator is equipped with a torque protection device as standard. When metal buckets are used, the system stops automatically if a bucket becomes jammed, and an alarm indicator is activated, helping prevent equipment damage and improve operational safety.

The elevator conveys materials in buckets suspended from chains within a fully enclosed casing and can provide horizontal–vertical–horizontal conveying in a single system. Feeding can be arranged at one or multiple points, while specially designed discharge mechanisms allow single-point or multi-point discharge.
The fully enclosed design minimizes material leakage and dust emissions. The system is suitable for conveying a wide range of powdery and granular materials and is particularly well suited for non-sticky materials. One of its major advantages is its flexible configuration and gentle material handling, which minimizes material breakage and helps reduce product damage.
