Product Overview
Plate feeders are widely used continuous conveying machines in industries such as mining, metallurgy, coal, chemical processing, building materials, and casting. They are particularly well suited for handling solid materials that are high‑temperature, large‑sized, sharply edged, and highly abrasive. Their primary applications include the continuous, uniform feeding and transfer of bulky, heavy items and abrasive bulk materials from storage bins or transfer hoppers to crushers, batching equipment, or conveying systems. As such, plate feeders are essential and indispensable components in ore and raw material processing and in continuous production processes. They are generally classified into three types: heavy‑duty plate feeders, medium‑duty plate feeders, and light‑duty plate feeders.
The lightweight plate feeder is a continuous feeding machine, suitable for conveying lump materials with a particle size of 160 mm or less over short distances. It is widely used in industries such as mining, coal washing, chemical processing, cement, and building materials to provide uniform, continuous feed from storage bins to crushing, conveying, and other equipment. It can be installed horizontally or at an incline. Typically, it is designed for materials with a bulk density of less than 1,200 kg/m³, a lump weight of no more than 140 kg, and temperatures below 350°C.
The medium‑size plate feeder is an intermittent feeding machine, suitable for conveying lump materials with a feed size of 400 mm or less over short distances. It is widely used in mining, ore‑processing plants, the chemical industry, cement production, and building‑materials sectors to provide uniform, intermittent feeding from storage bins to crushing, conveying, and other equipment. It can be installed horizontally or at an incline and is generally applicable to materials with a bulk density of less than 12,400 kg/m³, a lump weight of no more than 500 kg, and a temperature not exceeding 400°C.
The heavy-duty apron feeder is an auxiliary device for conveying machinery. It is used in the crushing and classification workshops of mineral processing plants, as well as in the cement and building materials industries, to provide a continuous and uniform feed from hoppers to primary crushers. It can also be employed for short-distance conveying of materials with large particle sizes and high specific gravities. The feeder may be installed horizontally or at an incline. To prevent material from striking the feeder directly, the hopper should never be allowed to empty completely.
Plate feeders of various models are classified, according to their drive configuration, into right-hand and left-hand drives. With the material flow direction as the reference, if the drive system is on the right side of the machine, it is a right-hand drive; otherwise, it is a left-hand drive.
Structural Composition
The apron feeder consists of a traction chain, a carrying chain, sprockets, a frame, and a drive unit.
Product Features
1. The plate feeder’s traction chain employs a long-pitch plate-type pin‑roller chain. All chain components are made of alloy steel and undergo rigorous heat treatment, resulting in excellent wear resistance, high tensile strength, and an extended service life.
2. The apron feeder features a stamped trough with transverse stiffening ribs, ensuring excellent rigidity and high load‑carrying capacity. The trough bottom plate is joined by a circular arc overlap to prevent material leakage.
3. The drive motor of the apron feeder is a variable-speed motor, with adjustable operating speed, enabling more rational selection of the conveying capacity.
4. Apron feeders offer versatile layout options, allowing for horizontal, inclined, or various combined horizontal–inclined configurations.
5. For a single-unit apron feeder, the conveying length shall not exceed 60 m, the material temperature shall not exceed 600°C, and the lifting height shall not exceed 30 m.
